Keynote: “Can We Realize the Massive Public Health Benefit of CBT, too?”
In the United States there is no national health service which makes universal implementations of health care initiatives difficult. States and counties are largely independent in their implementation of mental health programs. Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health is the largest mental health system in the country. In 2013, LA County embarked on a large scale implementation of CBT. Based on the wildly successful Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT), LA County Roll Out of CBT (LACROCBT) has trained over 1800 clinicians in case conceptualization based CBT for consumers with high comorbidity and multiple psychosocial stressors. In this keynote, preliminary patient outcomes, clinician factors, implementation challenges, and recent developments will be described.
