Keynote: “Fear, Block and resistances to compassion: Implications for therapy”
There is considerable evidence showing that developing a compassionate orientation to oneself and others has major health benefits. These include compassion training changes in various neurophysiological pathways. However, the motivational systems of compassion tend to come with mechanisms for social processing that some clients find difficult or overwhelming. This talk will explore the nature of fears blocks and resistances to compassion and how much of compassion focused therapy is about addressing and overcoming resistance to compassionate mind training and change.
