Henck van Bilsen is a consultant clinical psychologist of more than 40 years’ experience. He has worked in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. He attended a workshop on motivational interviewing by Bill Miller in 1985 and with a group of colleagues became instrumental in introducing the method in the field of substance abuse in the Netherlands. Since 1987 he has been delivering workshops and advanced training in motivational Interviewing. He has worked with a range of ‘sceptical’ client groups: forensic psychiatry, addictions, and personality disorders to name a few. He currently works as a clinical psychologist in Invercargill, New Zealand.
